Abrasive maybe, abusive at times but not violent. However when I saw the protesters at the soldiers' funeral in northern Wisconsin with a sign that read 'Thank God for 9-11' I went into a rage. Had I been in attendance I would not have been able to hold back. Nor would I have tried. Some people need to learn that when you shit where you eat...your sign gets shoved up your ass. Ingrateful pieces of shit. They live under the umbrella of democracy, free will, the freedom to move and free speech yet forget those who paid for that privelege with their blood. p2000, I am so terribly torn. I abhore the war in Iraq and fear it will become another Vietnam. But with America's youth at stake, I agree that protest does no good. Neither the left preaching Democracy nor the radical Right declaring God's wrath at the sins of our society do anyone any good. Whether you object or support, you must acknowledge we are at war. Our friends/children are at risk. Soldiers go where they must and when they are killed, they must be honored as heroes.

I truly think that thanks to the soldiers we have not been attacked directly in US soil, for last couple of years. A true reminder for the protesters, is just from last week at the casualties in hotels at AMMAN, Jordan. These terrorists are all from Iraqi cells that used to live and grow under that government, including the now captured Iraqi wife of a suicide bomber. Al-Rishawi's brother was once the right-hand man to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Jordanian leader of al-Qaida in Iraq. The brother, Mubarak Atrous al-Rishawi, was killed in the former terrorist stronghold of Fallujah, Iraq. I believe in the right for peaceful assembly and all that and the right to protest, however those rights, IMHO, are reserved for public events, for instance you cannot come in to my home and protest, so i do not think you should be able to crash a private funeral and spew that garbage. I am curious to know how many people get this upset though when the same people crash the funeral of someone who has died of AIDS with their "God hates fags" signs. Sometimes people who behave beyond the bounds of decency need to be shown the error of their ways. Certain types of "speech" are now considered "hate speech" as certain types of "words" were once considered "fighting words." It is entirely appropriate that people who disrupt private events for the purpose of spewing hate be met with a response that deters them for doing such in the future. When I assault the man who invades my home (as I have done) to protect myself and my family, I am violent, but that does not make me a violent man. Do you think your way is so right that all other beliefs are absurd??? Are you a muslim? Or maybe an evangelical Christian? 1. If they did not have a permit for their protest, they should have been arrested. 2. If they disrupted the funeral through excessive noise, physical blockade, etc., they should have been arrested for disturbing the peace. 3. Otherwise, they merely displayed a lack of class, no Christian love or respect for the feelings of the family and other mourners, and very poor manners. 4. Violence against them would be completely wrong, as even my five year old knows from the saying "sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me." 5. Anyone who resorted to violence to respond to a lawful protest with which he objected, is no better than a Nazi thug and belongs in jail himself. The remedy for "bad" speech is more "good" speech. 6. griz sounds more and more every day like a bitter anarchist.
